However, it’s also a land dotted with Natural and Historical Reserves.

During this journey, we will explore three National Reserves in this region – Caesarea Philippi, a significant landmark for Christianity and a former capital constructed by Philip, the son of King Herod; Dan National Reserve, marked not only by its streams and woodlands but also by the remains of the best conserved Jewish Temple, a rival to the one in Jerusalem; and Nimrod Fortress National Reserve, noted for its colossal and impeccably preserved Citadel that provides a stunning view of the Golan Heights.

Beautiful Gem in Northern Israel - This is a beautiful park, not only for its natural beauty, but for its spiritual and historical significance. Upon on the hill are the ruins of the Temple of Pan, the ancient Greek god. The temple was built in front of a huge cave, through which an underground river runs. It was thought that the river led to Hades, the underworld, and many people were sacrificed into the river to satisfy the gods. Jesus took his disciples to this cave, a dark place where so many people had died, and spread his light of love - not human sacrifice. Jesus announced to Simon that he would henceforth be called Peter (or in Greek Petra), and upon Peter he would build his church and "the gates of Hades will not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18. How amazing that Jesus stood in front of the gate of hell, and announced the good news of a heavenly kingdom full of goodness and light. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Israel.

Amazing to connect this to Matthew 16! - Beautiful nature walks, but significantly the Temple of Pan and other pagan gods. Quite likely to be near the area where Matthew chapter 16 takes place.

AWESOME TOUR GUIDE! - I was lucky enough to have two tours with Levi. I did the Caesarea tour as well one of Tel Aviv/Jaffa. Levi is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and gracious. He also has a very comfortable car. I highly recommend him.
