Highlights
  • H3HM+J8F - Departing from Cusco, we head to the high-altitude Patabamba community. En route, we pass fields growing Quinoa, Kiwicha, and potatoes. Once there, locals greet us at a viewpoint over the Sacred Valley and offer traditional clothing. Next, we visit the Queswachaca bridge before a 3 hour hike to the Balcony of the Sacred Valley, an overlook 800 meters above the valley. On the return hike, we gather organic materials to learn the community’s ancient dyeing and weaving techniques, which utilize leaves and clay for vibrant, durable colors.

The day’s highlight is preparing Pachamanca, a unique Andean cooking method involving an underground earth oven. We actively participate in this ritual, then enjoy the mouth-watering results. It’s an authentic slice of Andean life that’s both enriching and unforgettable.

Amazing 10-day trip in Peru - We had JOEX travel organize a 10-day family trip in Perú. We visited many places including the most popular sites like Machupichu, but also other less visited areas like the Colca Valley for Condor sightseeing. Everything was very well organized and we had very knowledgeable and profesional guides in all our visits. They very kind and always tried to accommodate our needs and requirements. We had a ver special experience with a local family in the sacred valley where we could understand a bit more of the culture, traditions and flavors of Peru. 10/10!!!
