A Must See in Rio - Our travel guide, who lives in the favela, gave us excellent insights. We hiked well over two hours within the favela providing an excellent overview. We would highly recommend this tour as the favelas play such an important role in Rio’s culture.

unrivaled cultural dive in Rio's largest favela - Exciting discovery crossing with Annabelle who shares with us the history of the favela and her experience. Some surprises that we keep secret.

Full immersion in the favela of Rocinha - Carlos was our local guide provided by this very professional and well organized company. He was passionate, capturing our attention with his story about the favela and information provided for any question we had. His English was perfect, even with American accent, he was so friendly, he brought us to stop in the little alleys of the favelas, with stops at bars and little bakery places to taste the local products. The only thing is that I was hoping to be brought to a view point of the city, like in the picture I saw, but at the end we were extremely satisfied anyway. I wish the best to Carlos.

Great tour and fantastic guide. - We did a tour of Favela da Rocinha with Martin as our guide. I highly recommend this tour. Martin was an amazing guide and all of the people we met along the tour were very friendly and welcoming. The tour started at a bar with amazing views where we had plenty of time for some drinks and photos. We proceeded to walk though this amazing favela and meet many kind and welcoming people. Listen to your guide, be respectful of the residents and you will love this tour. There was a bit of uphill walking but the vast majority was downhill. Martin was a great guide throughout and knows just about everyone we passed along the way. He will tell you when you can take photos and when you cannot take photos.

Amazing and Eye Opening Favela Tour - This tour was really informative and opened our eyes to world we had heard of, but knew nothing about. Our tour guide, Edmundo, was not only knowledgeable about life in the favela, but was also sympathetic to the people there and his ability to see the world through their eyes definitely added to the trip. The favela can be a dangerous place if a person is blind to its realities, but Edmundo really understands how problems might arise and warns the group how to avoid tense situations with locals. His walking tour is part sightseeing, history lesson, sociology class and urban studies course. He combines all this info without being boring or stuffy. It is clear that Edmundo has a real passion for the subject and really cares about presenting the favela and its residents in a balanced and fair light. I would recommend this tour for anyone who wants to understand the reality of living in a Brazilian favela.

Be advised - The guide should have never left us alone during the walking tour because the 5 minutes he went away for some personal shopping, at least two locals approached us asking for money or obliging us to put cameras in our pockets. Besides I paid a 4hour walking tour that lasted no more than 2 hours
