Highlights

Leave La Paz at around 7 am. After aproximately 3 hours you will arrive to Tiquina, the narrowest part of the lake, where you will cross to the other side by boat and meet the bus on the other side to continue with the trip, after another 30-40 minutes you will arrive to the town of Copacabana.

Once there you will have lunch and then head towards the shore to catch a boat to the Sun Island, in the south part of the Island you will see the Inca steps and the Inca fountain, also known as the youth fountain, this fountain represents the 3 pillars of the Aymara Culture, Ama Sua, Ama Llulla and Ama Quella, which mean, you shall not steal, shall not lie and shall not be lazy.

Afterwards you will visit the town of Yumani and then start heading back to the port to catch the boat back to Copacabana.

Once in Copacabana you will visit the Church, main square and crafts market and by 6 pm you will catch the bus back to La Paz, you should arrive back in the city by 10 pm.

Additional Information

Starting with pickup from your hotel, or from a designated meeting point in La Paz, you will get a chance to visit Copacabana and the south part of Sun Island, all led by a professional guide. Once you reach the city, lunch will be provided, and then you’ll get on a boat to see the historical attractions on Sun Island. Travelers will get a chance to visit the town of Yumani as well as the Inca Steps and the fountain that they refer to as the Fountain of Youth.

Worth the effort of visiting - It is a must to visit Lake Titikaka and Isla del Sol, but it is important to know that it is a somewhat tiring trip to do in a single day, as it takes around 3 hours by bus to Copacabana and another 1h30 by boat to the island. In other words, you will be back in La Paz after 10pm. Anyway, it's all really beautiful. Bring a snack or fruit, as there are not many options open to buy something on the way back. It deserves a visit.

The best!!!!💯 - We loved our day tour in Copacabana! Pablo was a good tour guide and very knowledgeable! The driver was good as well, smooth drive from La Paz to Copacabana. Keep them, they are good for your company! Will definitely comeback for more tours!😍

At least two days at this location. - A place full of islands and Incas ruins (badly kept) to visit and I just made a day (a few hours) trip from La Paz to Copacabana. Our private bilingual guide, Alvaro Monrroy was fantastic. Pity. Could have spent a night on the Island of the Sun or Moon. A few hours are not enough. It's a shame to see the fight that the tribes or villages are on the Island of the Sun. There are three. A tribe does not allow to pass from the south to the center and from the center to the north. Only the Inca ruins of the South can be visited. Freedom without wisdom is confusion and petty or stupid beings.

Best full day tour in La Paz! - We had an amazing time with Franklin on this tour. He was a lot of fun and kept us laughing from the minute we got on the tour! Very knowledgeable as well. Overall, the tour was excellent. The lake is beautiful and definitely worth the cost of the tour, especially since it is so cheap! The boat ride across the lake and island were beautiful. Definitely would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun day activity while in La Paz. Maya was great to work with when booking the trip as well. We are using HanaqPacha Travel to book a trip to the Salt Flats this coming weekend and another trip the weekend after!

Franklin is the the best tour guide ever. - Franklin was a fantastic tour guide. He was very knowledgeable in all aspects of Lake Titicaca and Sun Island as he had visited the island on his own many times. He was kind, polite, and always went with the flow of our group. He made sure that we were having a great time and that we got to see everything that we wanted to see. This trip would not have been as fun with any other tour guide.

Good tour throughout - Good Tour. However traffic out from La Paz is chaotic and hence make the time in Copabana and the Sun Island very limit. Making it a rush tour. The tour itself is very informative and our guide, Fernando, is very attentive, informative and we enjoyed our time with him sharing his knowledge of Bolivia with us. Looking back we should have stay for an extra day to explore.

We were the only 2 of us taking the... - <p>We were the only 2 of us taking the tour and they did everything they could to make this an amazing trip. Our guide was amazing and he did everything to accommodate us in every way. Even when that meant helping us with hiring a taxi to go atop the mountain to take in the beautiful sight of the Copacabana harbor! Highly recommended!</p>

We were robbed in Copacabana, a simple tip to avoid it. - Third time in Copacabana, we couldn't be so stupid. very important Salespeople or anyone can always come and start a chat. We left the tarp and a backpack with a cell phone, money, cards BEHIND us and the one who was giving us a talk. When we realized it, it was obviously late. The advice is, ALWAYS BELONGINGS in front of our eyes, and we even chat with Lula.

They stood us up - We waited at the pick up location at the time specified in our confirmation email. Half an hour after this time we tried to contact the contact number provided but they never responded. We ended up waiting an hour before giving up. The wasted morning meant we were never able to visit Copacabana as all other companies had left by this time.

Totally not worth it. To far away for a day trip. - Not sure from which company we booked, but the trip from La Paz to copacabana and sun island is just to long. You Will spend at least 10 hours in the bus/boat for at most one hour on sun island and a very quick lunch in copacabana. If you want to go see it, stay in copacabana or sun island overnight.
