Day Trip to Colonia - Pick up around 0800, leave Montevideo around 1000, arrive to Colonia around 11:30. Visit a small farm where you see the collections of the owner and his wife as well as try marmalades and cheeses from their farm. This is a good time to stretch your legs and go to the bathroom. Back on the bus around 12:00. Make a stop at the bull fighting amphitheater/athletic complex to take pictures. Next stop is the Colonia sign for your selfie and pictures. Then you stop at the main part of town. Spend about 4 hours in town - the lighthouse, old town, shopping, and food. (Make sure to bring wet wipes to use when you go to the bathroom. The bus goes away to the bus lot so if you don’t go in the bus bathroom, you’ll need to use the public restrooms in town.) Leave around 4:15pm. Ride back to Montevideo is about two hours then they drop everyone off at their hotels. I arrived to mine at 6:45pm and I was the first dropped off.

Nice sights, good tour, great guide - Jocelyn was fantastic. She spoke in Portuguese and English since all of the group members except me and a married couple were from Brazil. Jocelyn was very personable and at every stop she checked in with everyone to make sure that we were doing okay and were having a good time. Also when we got to Colonia, she spoke in Portuguese for the majority of the group and then found the English speakers and told us the same info in English. You get a good amount of time to check out Colonia. Also, I love that the bus had good WiFi and a decent bathroom.

The tour guide was well-spoken, knowledgeable and friendly. This is now my go-to tour company.

As for Colonia...its easy to see why it is a UNESCO site. The cobble stone streets and mix of Portuguese and Spanish architecture are like eye candy. The tour guide gave us a couple of hours to explore and get lunch. It was relaxing to just stroll the streets. I ate at what looked like your average pizza place on the Main Street, but decided to have their vegetarian sandwich instead. It was amazing. Roasted vegetables on a fresh chiabatta bun.

The entire day was lovely and well worth the price.

Our guide Roxana was amazing, she was very professional and willing to help with any questions we had. The coach used for the trip was comfortable and had complimentary Wi-Fi on board. Highly recommended!

Great full day tour of the city of... -
Great full day tour of the city of Colonia del Sacramento with a nice guide Jocelyne she was very energetic with a good sense of humor and fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Colonia is charming but very small with an interesting mixture of Spanish and Portuguese influences.
We were lucky for the weather!

This was wonderful! The guide was... -
This was wonderful! The guide was friendly, informed and accessible, for starters. And the comfort of participants was well attended to the pleasant stop at the Nirvana hotel with refreshments, for instance.
Colonia is totally charming, and it seemed to be a good balance between the little tour the guide led and some free time on our own. Unfortunately it was beastly hot that day, so that slowed some of us down. But the guide offered suggestions for where to go and how to manage under the circumstances. The artisanal shops were also fun to explore, as were the port areas there, and the architecture. A little more descriptive map with a bit of history or explanation would be helpful.
We also enjoyed the stop at the collection museum and the shop where we could sample and buy local products dulce le leche, jams, empanadas, etc..
One of the more enjoyable tour experiences we've had.

The hotel was a nice stop to have some coffee and a break. The actual tour in Colonia was very short. The tour guide was great and helpful. Long day but worth it.

Long bus trip for a short tour. - The guide was lovely and tried her best, but the tour was too short for a six hour bus ride. A tour of the government buildings and/or the museums would make this tour more worthwhile.

How not to do Colonia - Time spent traveling versus time spent at site is. Tour on site was done in three languages I felt neglected. Cheerleader was overworked what happened to translate everything into 3 languages. I would not recommend this trip to anyone. Please note this has nothing to do with the efforts of the guide. I think she work as hard as she possibly could but this was not set up for success because of the itinerary.
