You can’t miss this street-level marketplace—it’s topped by a 230-foot clock tower modeled after the bell tower of the cathedral in Seville, Spain. One stop here and it’ll be easy to see why this is a must-do for foodie locals and visitors alike. Shops large and small celebrate cuisine in all its forms, offering everything from artisan cheeses to the freshest local fish. Restaurants and cafes serve menus representative of the quality and cultural diversity of San Francisco’s best chefs. Food bars inside boast fantastic city panoramas, while restaurants outside offer front-row views of the sailboats passing by. On Tuesday and Saturday, a farmers’ market brings even more food options to the Ferry Building, including both farm-fresh produce and delicious prepared foods. The building also serves as a transit hub that is accessible by MUNI, BART, and, appropriately, ferries.
Review
I didn't realize the extent to which San Francisco is a food-lover's paradise until I got to the Ferry Building Marketplace... We loved the Verve coffee and organic peach conserve pastries at Frog Hollow Farm. If food shopping and organic dining isn't your thing, head out the back door to the boardwalk and watch the ferry boats come in.
