The beautiful year-round temperate weather in San Diego provides perfect days for golf in all four seasons. And with over 90 courses in the area, over half of which are open to the public, you can play open desert to oceanfront designs, and everything in between. Take in the ocean views and feel the challenge of the sea breeze at legendary Torrey Pines and Coronado Courses. Chip in and drive the ball among towering oaks and boulders at Mt. Woodson Golf Club, known for its target-style design. Head north to Encinitas Ranch, designed by well-known course architect, Cary Bickler, and play the ocean bluffs. Rub elbows with celebrities at La Costa, a stop on the PGA tour for over 30 years. Head to east San Diego County for desert courses, or stay central for more traditional tree-lined links. With perpetually pleasant weather, it’s always a great day to play.

Review

One of the best things San Diego has going for it is the high concentration of championship-level golf courses. La Costa and Torrey Pines immediately come to mind. What is more awesome is the fact that the city actually runs 3 pretty good courses—Torrey Pines, Balboa, and Mission Bay. You have actual mini-lake water hazards, decent sand traps, and the sod was definitely an improvement over city-issued grass.
