Highlights
  • La Paternal - La Paternal is a neighborhood located in the central-northwest part of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. It was founded in 1904 by a national decree.

Its name was due, for some, to the request of an Insurance Company “La Paternal”, which owned many land in the area, where he built numerous houses for workers. Others think that the name was given by a grocery store, known because it stopped the carts that went to Luján passing the “road to Moreno”.

The headquarters of the Asociación Atlético Argentinos Juniors, a centennial football club and champion of America that militates in the Argentine First Division is located in the neighborhood.

Additional Information

La Casa de D10S, the initial residence of Diego Armando Maradona and his family (1978-1980) situated in the La Paternal district of Buenos Aires city, and at a stone’s throw from the stadium now carrying his name, belonging to the Athletic Association Argentinos Juniors (AAAJ), his foundational club where he began his professional football journey. The house, given to Diego Maradona by Argentinos Junios on his 18th birthday, has been restored, appreciated, and declared by the City Parliament as a historical landmark, honoring the legendary footballer. Besides, whenever it is accessible, visitors can pay their respects at the commemorative sanctuary to Diego Armando Maradona, situated in the Argentinos Juniors field. Created within a day, the sanctuary showcases all the presents fans offered following his demise. Its highlight is a mural of Pelusa wearing the Bicho shirt, resembling a shrine.

Highly recommended - Increíble tour. If you’re a football nut then this is for you amazing history in this house and tour. The collections of pictures etc is amazing to see. There is loads of Maradona information/ history about his early beginning and also a quick visit to the first team he played for. Our tour a guide Fernando was excellent guide and super friendly and went out of his way to assist us. He even brought a baby sit for his car for our child and made a toilet stop. He speaks perfect English and has a wealth of knowledge about not just this tour but everything in Buenos Aires in general. I highly recommend this tour with him. Thanks

excellent and fully recommended - The possibility to visit directly the place where Maradona and his family lived. It provides a great insight into the really very moderate background of this amazing player. I wonder whether this will still be possible in a few years time and appreciate the chance. The guide was excellent and explained with knowledge and empathy the life of Maradona and gave a lot of background information about the situation of Argentina.
