Our journey will commence around the district of Chacarita, a place frequently overlooked by travellers: You will experience an unconventional Buenos Aires, remote from the popular dining spots, sightseeing coaches, and impressive structures of the city centre.
We’ll begin our stroll in Parque los Andes, which over the weekend transitions from a quiet park into a vibrant swap meet. We will tour the antique and collectable stands before making our way to the retro garments.
We will uncover the legend of Gauchito Gil - a local Argentine folklore icon. We will enter a shrine and observe how individuals commemorate this virtually holy gaucho.
We will head towards Chacarita Cemetery, which harbours an intriguing (AND CREEPY) past. We will gaze at the extravagant graves and mausoleums, constructed during the country’s belle epoquê era.
To conclude, we will break for lunch at a longstanding pizzeria established in 1947. We will sample a few portions of Argentine pizza and savour a beer, a cup of wine or a non-alcoholic beverage!
