Additional Information

Welcome to Huatajata in La Paz, Bolivia

Situated on the banks of Lake Titicaca, Huatajata holds the distinction of being nestled by the world’s topmost navigable lake, sited at an altitude of 3856 meters above the sea level. Its coastlines and minor islands are home to the indigenous Aymara and Quechua people, descendants from antiquated civilizations that were present much before the dominance of the Incas. This is where visitors get an opportunity to experience native villages where Spanish is considered a secondary language and where aged myths and belief systems are very much alive. A unique feature of Lake Titicaca is the miniature islands that float, inhabited by the Uros tribe. Visit these tiny islands to receive a warm welcome, and perhaps even experience a ride in the famed reed boats.

The tour description is... - The tour description is not fully accurate. The transport to the island of Parity was not in a reed boat, but in a motor boat. We did get a short ride in a reed boat, but only 5 mins and we even had to pay 50 Bs per person extra for it. Apart from that, the tour is a great way to discover Titicaca away from the crowds. The island of Parity is a real hidden gem, with a surprising archeology museum and a wonderful viewpoint on the hill. The reed boat museum and lunch were also good.
