An informative and enjoyable, gastronomic experience in Bilbao. - I went to Spain to learn about the different cuisines and compare the recipes grandma (from Valencia, Spain) cooked for my mother, who, in turn, cooked for me (in Mexico). Chef Mikel's class was full of knowledge and experience. His cooking tips and agreeable conversation while we were preparing a feast, helped me to contextualize my beloved mother's inheritance. I got "equivalent" transcontinental ingredients, general cooking tips, references to Micheline restaurants in the area, and other places to eat. Chef Mikel'love for cooking, his search for knowledge, and "Don de gente" gave the class the "magic touch." His class was a gastronomic experience complete with the history and lifestyle of the beautiful Basque Country. Thanks, Chef Mikel. As a bonus, we received the recipes, with pictures, by e-mail, and the aprons as souvenirs.

Unreal experience - highly recommend!! - Let’s put it this way: before the class was even done, I had signed up for a second cooking class the following day! Had such an incredibly fun time — the highlight is essentially spending time with the chef, Mikel (Michel?) and hearing his stories and experiences. He is such a fun character, and you learn about Basque food, cooking, and culture, as well as learn some basic techniques (knife skills). I’d describe this more as a cooking demonstration - in contrast to other cooking classes, you aren’t hands-on making your own individual dish or set of dishes on your own stove or hot plate - the group works together to prepare some ingredients and Mikel pulls it together and demonstrates the cooking technique. Highly recommend, 10/10, such a cool snd fun experience!

Say yes! - We’ve done a lot of food tours and cooking classes around the world and this was by far one of the best experiences. Mikel is a supreme chef, and very fun and great conversationalist. We had great food, amazing wine, fun conversation and the kitchen space is incredibly beautiful. It’s well worth the cost. Muchísimas gracias!

10/10 experience - Chef Mikel was phenomenal. We had a lot of laughs and some fantastic food. He was engaging and made you feel at home. I learned a lot about Basque cuisine and wine and had a truly memorable afternoon. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough; you won’t regret it!

Outstanding food and exceptionally memorable - We honestly had the best time. Mikel is authentic and engaging, sharing openly his culinary experiences and perspective on basque cuisine. It was a beautiful afternoon with such a feast. The recipes were simple enough we feel confident we can recreate them when we get home. We cannot recommend this experience highly enough. Thank you so much for the laughs Mikel, you are a wonderful person and a kind teacher.

Amazing experience - we had the best time - Don’t hesitate to book this cooking class. Mikel is an amazing highly qualified chef having worked in Michelin 3 star restaurants abroad. His knowledge and passion for Basque cuisine coupled with his friendly personality made this one of the highlights of our visit to Bilbao. We cannot recommend this cooking class highly enough. If you love cooking you should book this class.

Highlight of a trip to Bilbao - I cannot recommend this experience enough! It was the highlight of our trip to Bilbao. Chef Mikel is so knowledgeable and talented. He shares so many pieces of wisdom and tips/techniques through the class. He is fresh and honest (not fake to impress) and you can tell he has such a passion for the art of cooking and sharing that love with others. We were fortunate enough to have a small class. It was my husband and I and 2 young women from Australia and we all had so much fun getting to know each other, contributing to the cook and sharing a meal at the end. Of the 2 class options we chose the full meal, so we started with a charcuterie and wine pairing, followed by constructing and learning about Pinxtos, then we made a chorizo appetizer, a Basque stew and finished with Txuleta (Basque Steak). Our dessert was Torrijas which I had never heard of, but am now hooked! On top of learning how to cook, we were sent all the recipes with a personal note of thanks from Chef Mikel. We also were given our aprons to take as a great souvenir and motivation to recreate the dishes at home. I highly recommend this class. For the price you learn so much, get a full meal (plus some), and a fun experience with new friends. It is 1000% more than you expect. In addition to classes Gastronomia is a wine bar/restaurant where they host tastings and have a retail shop selling the Basque ingredients and wine. It was such a cool spot that I would frequent often with friends if I lived there. As a bonus FYI they accommodate allergies if you alert them ahead of time. (I have a nut allergy and the dessert was altered to accommodate me)

Immersive Basque Cooking Class - This was a unique and excellent experience. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Mikel was full of information and a great teacher. We enjoyed learning how to cook traditional basque meals while using high quality and locally sourced produce. This has been the highlight of our trip so far. Would recommend.

Best atmosphere, food and experience - I actually joined a pasta cooking class with my 2 daughters. I was looking for a fun activity to bond with my teenagers and cooking is something we really enjoy. The class exceeded my expectations, the cook, the place, the summiller...we had amazing food, the best of the best, great company and the fact that I am returning tomorrow for a DJ and wine evening says it all. I highly recommend the place and the experience!

Fun night with some friends - Mikel was fun, funny, encouraging and very entertaining. The menu was fantastic. come very hungry as there is alot to eat!
