Highlights
  • Xunantunich - You will be picked up in Belize City and head to Xunantunich with a local guide. The site was a major ceremonial center for the ancient Maya and it was the first Mayan site in Belize to be open to the public in 1954. From the top of Xunantunich, you will get a spectacular panoramic view of the Cayo District and across the border in Guatemala.

Getting to Xunantunich includes riding a hand-cranked ferry to cross the majestic Mopan River.

After exploring Xunantunich and having lunch, you will head to the Belize Caves. This is where you start with a hike through the exotic rain forest to the mouth of the cave. The view is stunning as you float away from the cave entrance to your inner tube with only your headlamp to lead the way.

Afterwards, you will return to your hotel in Belize City.

GREAT GUIDE AND GREAT EXPERIENCE - The tour guide Tarik was excellent is all he did on the trip out to the ruins. Stopping is picking up some local foods for us to experience. Then at the ruins he was very knowledgeable about everything. Then it got even better at the Cave Tubing where once again Tarik made it very informative and FUN! BUT, Belize City was VERY SKETCHEE and we did not go out at night. When I learned we could have set it up and stayed in San Pedro I really wished we had done that.

Well worth it! - We had a great guide.! The ride to Xunantunich is worth it. It’s beautiful and a great chance to see and learn about inland Belize and Belizean Culture! Cave tubing was awesome. Stopped and ate at Amigos on the way back - at the suggestion of our guide - and it was also great!

A day to remember - Our guide, Pablo, made this truly a wonderful experience. He was an amazing guide! He was so knowledgeable and made the trip both educational and fun! Great jokes too! We enjoyed his tour of the ruins and an authentic local lunch. Our local guide, Rosa, took us on our way through tubing in the cave and again, she too was very knowledgeable and friendly. A perfect day for my family and I. Highly recommend!!!!

Great Experience Better Belize It - Our tour guide Paul notified us in advance to his arrival. Our Airbnb address was incorrect but he was still able to locate our lodging . Our guide Paul was extremely personable, relatable, knowledgeable about historical and contemporary facts about Belize and provided us with exemplary service and an unforgettable experience. During the drive he pointed out local landmarks, historical sites, answered our endless assortment of questions and brought us up to speed on contemporary matters pertaining to the country. When we arrived at Xuantunich Paul took us to each of structure offering insight as to its significance and purpose. He also assisted us with taking photos and answering any questions that we had on the archaeological site. Cave tubing was extremely fun and Paul ensured that we were safe, having a good time as well as gave us a history lesson on caves in Belize and how they related to the ancient Mayan civilization. After tubing my sister and I enjoyed a beverage we purchased from a local vendor who placed rum, coconut milk, fresh juice and melon into a half pineapple. Paul was kind enough to let us stop at a grocery store within close proximity to our AirBnb. He also provided us with restaurant recommendations and familiarized us with the general area that we stayed in. Private Belize Adventure provided an excellent tour and an overall amazing experience. Please request Paul as he will certainly show you a great time along with educating you.

These guys are awesome! You will have an AMAZING TIME! - James and Goldburn did an amazing job from the moment they picked us up at the Maya Air Plane in Belize City. Welcomed with open arms, a clean van with AC took us to a very nice breakfast spot! We drove to Xunantunich (Shoe-nan-too-nich) and they explained different things along the way. Goldburn took us through the ruins and knew exactly what he was talking about! Afterward, we went to lunch at a roadside restaurant just before the cave tubing. Excellent food again! The cave tubing was excellent and Golburn took us through showing all the great spots! Would go again with these guys!

Spent two full days with Private Adventure Tours..Loved it! - We booked two tours with Private Adventure Tours in Belize. Our driver and guide, Ellsworth was extremely knowledgeable, on time, and really made our trip to Belize memorable. The first day we did Xunantunich and Cave Tubing. The site was amazing, he was courteous with our pace and gave commentary along the way. Cave tubing was really fun and a cool off from the morning trek. The next day we did the Lamanai Temple site. Ellsworth drove us there and Carlos took us on the 25 mile river boat trip to the site. The beauty of Belize via the river is not to be missed. Birds, flowers, and the occasional croc make the trip go fast and easy. The Lamanai site is well kept and gorgeous. I would recommend Private Belize Adventure to anyone coming to this area.
