Machame - Elevation: 1830m To 3050m | Distance: 11km/7mi | Hiking Time: 5-6 Hours
Drive from Moshi to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate takes about 45 minutes. The journey passes through the village of Machame which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. We depart the park gate and walk through the rain forest on a winding trail up a ridge. At lower elevations, the trail can be muddy and slippery. Gaiters and trekking poles are a good idea here. We continue a short distance until we reach the Machame Camp.

Wonderful and memorable - The trek was very well organized by Wence and his team. The guides were knowledgeable and he ensured that all the camping facilities were top notch.
I would recommend Interpid to anyone who wishes to take a trip to the Mighty Kilimanjaro

Thriller in Whisky Route - Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via Machame route with Intrepid Explorer Tanzania was exceptional, tough but it was quite enjoyable thanks to the wonderful service we received since day one of our arrival at Moshi from Wence and the crew in particular Isaya, Jumanne, Ngwasuma,Chef, Porters and One special guy YAHYA. Over and Above 10/10

5 days Climb with Intrepid Explorer Tanzania - The Intrepid Explorer Tanzania team was just great! Everyone in the team was very motivated from the guides, porters, organizers and cooks. The food was very nice, more than I expected given the challenging environments.
The guides were very encouraging and supportive, they made sure I reached the summit. At some point I felt very tired and I thought I wouldn’t make it to the summit but they checked my health and said I was good to go on and encouraged me to do so and I did, made it to Uhuru peak, very happy!
The porters were very happy in their duties and they were very helpful. I was so overwhelmed with joy when they came to receive me on my way down, it was very nice and kind of them. It gave me so much energy that after breakfast we went all the way to Moshi town and ended up using 5 days instead of 6. Great team!
I highly recommend Intrepid Explorer Tanzania, they are very experienced and make everything seem very easy.

The owner (Wence) cannot be trusted. - Wence (the owner) does not care about your experience - he’s only interested in making a sale. As a solo traveller I was asking around a number of tour operators to see if I could join a group for kilimanjaro. The only reason I picked Intrepid Explorer Tanzania is because they assured me I was joining a group of 10 and their website and socials appeared legitimate. Wence and his team kept telling me “the others are arriving tonight”, “they will meet you at the gate”. When we arrived on the day it turns out there is no group. When I tried to call him to get an explanation he wouldn’t pick up the phone. All other tour operators I dealt with had the honesty and decency to tell me that they were unable to find me a group. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.
