- Umbria Con Me Day Tours - Meet the guide at 10:00am and visit the Basilica of Saint Francis which is world-famous for its 13th-14th century frescoes by the best painters of Italy at that time. Among those, the most famous is Giotto.
From there, you will get to the main city square, Piazza del Comune. At the square you will see one of the best-preserved Roman temples in Italy
- Minerva’s temple
- which is surrounded by imposing medieval government buildings.
The morning will then head down to the old Roman ruins of the local amphitheater, which was reused in the Middle Ages as a quarry for stones to build local houses. You will see how the amphitheater was turned into a private neighborhood. From there, the view toward the Rocca Maggiore medieval castle is one of the best in the city. Through narrow alleys and medieval squares you will reach Saint Rufino’s Cathedral and Saint Claire’s Basilica.
After free time for lunch, in the afternoon you will explore Sanctuaries and Franciscan Sites outside Assisi by driver and guide.

- A dress code is required to enter places of worship and selected museums. No shorts or sleeveless tops allowed. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. You may risk refused entry if you fail to comply with these dress requirements
- Please notice: on Sundays, big Catholic holidays and National holidays, guided tours inside the Basilica of St. Francis ar forbidden. You guide will explain to you the church from outside, and you will enter alone on silence.

A thoughtful and moving tour of discovery into the foundation of the Franciscan movement. - The entire trip was so deeply touching. It was a journey through Saint Francis's life and conversion. It also included a side trip to visit Blessed Carlos Acutis. My wife and I are believers with and affinity for Saint Francis. This was the main focus of our trip to Italy. Our wonderful guide, Alexandra made this so much more impactful. In addition, her knowledge of local customs, culture, and history contributed greatly to our wonderful experience in Assisi. It added much depth and understanding. We felt so welcomed. I might also add that she made our tour fun!

Come to know St. Francis - Our guide, Michele Tomassoni was well informed, sensitive to our needs and good company. He knew all the art and architecture, but more importantly he has a personal appreciation for the life and spirit of St. Francis. We signed up for the full day tour, the morning at the major basilicas and other sites in the town of Assisi and the afternoon at the key sites in the life of St. Francis outside the town, something we would not have wanted to miss. We had only one day in Assisi and could never have done this much on our own.
There are less expensive options, but we chose a full day private tour for 300 euro and it was well worth it. We saved an additional 100 euro by providing our own transportation to the sites outside the town, since we had a rental car. I am sure they have many good guides, but if you can get Michele you will not be disappointed.
