Argostoli was a pleasant surprise! - To be honest, we didn't expect much from Kefalonia. It does not have the classic white Greek seaside villas. Just about everything on the island was completely rebuilt after an earthquake in 1953 so there isn't a lot of history to see. Our visit turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. We booked a five hour private tour with Seven Sailing and Tourism Services through Get Your Guide. It was just our two couples in a nice Mercedes van. Our tour guide, Martin, was wonderful. He's actually British, but moved to Argostoli about 20 years ago. He definitely has a love for the beauty, the culture and the history of the island. He took us to a pair of interesting caves which were fun to tour. We stopped in a small village for coffee. We had a wine tasting at a wonderful winery. Just before Martin dropped us off he said there were two more things he wanted to show us and extended our tour a little longer. It was a great way to see the beautiful Greek island.

Most Do Tour with Martin - The cave lake was excellent. We were the first visitors for the season. Martin and his team ensured that what we paid for is what we got even though the season had only started. If you are after an English speaking tour of Kefalonia then look no more, as Martin is a Brit speaking fluent English and Greek. He took us all over the island seeing the top spots, he waited for us as we had a leisurely swim in a beautiful beach spot and took us to an excellent winery for more tastings than you could imagine, plus snacks and liquors as well. A must do with this group.
