An exciting 7-9km hike through breath-taking and harsh landscapes at high altitudes, ideal for seasoned and daring trailblazers!
We begin our journey from the city of Salta and make our way to Campo Quijano, a town renowned as the starting point for the labourers who built the Train to the Clouds railway, connecting Argentina to the Chilean coast. Here we can pause to appreciate an old railway engine and the final resting place of the head engineer of the rail line, Richard Maury, a native of Philadelphia, USA.
From this point, we ascend through the spectacularly vivid Quebrada de Toro, traversing rivers, engaging in off-road driving through canyons until we reach San Bernardo de las Zorras which is our trailhead.
Transportation time is two hours in each direction and the trek ranges from 4 to 5 hours.
Our tour guide is seasoned in navigating all types of terrain and is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish.
A picnic lunch is included.
