In the morning, we commence our journey to Targoviste, the ancient capital of Wallachia, where we explore the remnants of Vlad the Impaler’s realm, famously recognized as Dracula.
Afterward, we proceed to Curtea de Arges, hosting one of Romania’s most splendid churches, which also serves as the final resting place of the inaugural Romanian royalty. From this sacred location, we continue to the vestiges of Poienari Castle, Dracula’s stronghold, offering a panoramic view of the Carpathian Mountains. The upcoming part of our exploration, the Transfagarasan road constructed by Ceausescu, and with army assistance, provides a stunning journey that extends to the apex of the mountain. Here, we encounter the spectacular glacial lake of Balea. Our day concludes with a lengthy yet scenic drive back to our point of departure.
