Embark on this compelling 2+ hour guided promenade of Antigua with Due South Travels, a treasured UNESCO World Heritage Site. On this journey, our locally nurtured guide will provide an array of rich insight, encompassing the ancestry of the town and its architectural qualities, the geographic features, traditions, and faith of Guatemala, from its antiquity to the contemporary era.
On our tour, we will explore and deliberate on the key monuments of Antigua. We will engage in discussions about the volcanic activity and earthquakes that have shaken Guatemala, the diverse Mayan tribes, the incursion by the Spanish, and daily life as it stands now.
We set ourselves apart from the town’s four-hour walking tours as we refrain from burdening you with shopping options. However, our community guides are more than happy to accompany you for shopping after the conclusion of the tour, if you wish for an intricate understanding of jade or are keen on negotiating for some exquisite artifacts. Additionally, you will be provided with plenty of other recommendations for activities within and around the town.

Your guide will be wearing a t-shirt with the Due South Travels logo, standing in front of Iglesia de la Merced, which is the large yellow church at the corner of 6a Avenida Norte and 1a Calle Poniente.

If you like history, go ahead. - If you’re really interesting of knowing the culture and history of Guatemala, this is your tour, our guide Cristina was really nice and she really knows her history, she gave us a lot of information and answers all our question. She also took us to a market to support local artisans, everything was beautiful.

Great walking tour of Antigua - Cristina was a fantastic guide! She took our small group on a leisurely walk of Antigua, providing us with a lot of information of the city and tips for restaurants and shops. It was a nice way to learn some new things!

Great overview. - It was a great overview of the City. Christina was awesome and very knowledgeable about the area. She also helped us out a few days later when we needed a doctor and she saw us struggling.

Fantastic tour of the city! - This tour was the perfect touch to visiting the lovely city of Antigua. I had the pleasure of having Luis as my trusty tour guide. He was super friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. He provided a thorough history lesson on the city and how it came to be. We visited churches, plazas, statues and ruins and learned interesting facts about each location. I was lucky enough to be the only one taking the tour and Luis gave me the opportunity to ask as many questions as I wanted, without rushing me :) He even indulged me and took me to a local ice cream shop to satisfy my cravings. This tour is a great way to learn all about Antigua’s rich history and culture. Definitely recommend!

Highly recommend! - Mirla was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. She knew a lot about the history of each site. Highly recommend for your first day in Antigua to get an intro to the city.

Tour guide tired and bored - I booked a private tour of Antigua. Couldn't find the guide when I got to the meeting point, so had to call the tour company to alert the guide.
The guide seemed really bored and not interested in doing this tour. Luckily I had done some research ahead of time and followed a few Youtube posts yo know what to expect.
However I did learn about some beautiful buildings eith unique decorations and history.
Taking me to places that did the hard sell at the end was annoying. I had no cash or credit card on me to buy "stuff" so they were all annoyed.

Booked, paid and no guide shows up! - Extremely disappointed with our experience booking a private walking tour of Antigua. Despite arriving promptly at the agreed meeting time, the guide was nowhere to be found. After multiple attempts to contact the agency, we were informed that the tour was cancelled due to unforeseen issues with the guide. Not only was this last-minute cancellation unacceptable, but the lack of communication and warning beforehand wasted valuable time during our visit. Cancelling 25 minutes after the scheduled departure time is simply unacceptable. While we understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, better communication and accountability from the agency would have been appreciated. Would not recommend booking with them.
