Highlights
  • Gallipoli Battlefield - Your tour starts at the door of your hotel in
akanakkale at around 11:30am, where you will be met by our passenger escort and accompanied to the ferry terminal, where you will board the waiting ferry for the short trip across the Dardanelles Strait.

On arrival in the town of Eceabat, once the ancient city of Madytos, located on the shores of the Dardanelles, you will be able to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, you board our coach for the 15 minute trip out to the battlefields, crossing the Gallipoli Peninsula and driving to the Aegean coast, and one of the most famous beaches in modern history
ANZAC Cove.

The first part of your tour takes in the area where the men of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) landed on April 25 1915, with our experienced guide giving you both background to the campaign leading up to the landing as well as describing the events of that historic day and beyond.

Among the highlights of the first part of the tour are standing above ANZAC Cove, site of the initial landing, and visiting the grave of John Simpson Kirkpatrick, the stretcher bearer famed as the Man with the Donkey for carrying wounded soldiers to a medical aid post using a stolen donkey.

Moving from the beaches up into the hills above, the tour then traces the line of the battle along what became known as Second Ridge, where the Allied advance was halted that first day of fighting by the Ottoman defenders and where the front line was located for the next seven months.

The tour follows the road along the top of Second Ridge, with the lines of Allied and Turkish trenches still clear on either side. The tours stops at a number of cemeteries and memorials, including the Australian memorial at Lone Pine
where almost 5000 Australians who have no known grave are commemorated
and Johnston’s Jolly Cemetery where we walk through the now abandoned trenches and tunnel entrances.

The final stop on the tour is Chunuk Bair, one of the highest points on the peninsula, and site of the New Zealand national memorial. The hill was captured in August by New Zealand troops and held for two days before being recaptured from the Allies by Ottoman forces under the personal command of Mustafa Kemal
later the president of modern Turkey.

Chunuk Bair was the scene of some of the fiercest fighting of the campaign, with the names of more than 850 New Zealand soldiers who fell in the area commemorated on the memorial. The recapture of Chunuk Bair effectively ended Allied hopes of victory at Gallipoli and so is a fitting place for our tour to close.

At the conclusion of the tour, our bus will return to Eceabat. Those guests wishing to travel to Istanbul will be able to take our specially configured bus, designed to provide more space and greater leg room for your comfort, for the approximately five hour trip.

For those guests wishing to return to
akanakkale, you will be escorted to the nearby ferry for the trip back across the Dardanelles.

Very pleased - Burak was a really great tour guide. We were really lucky to have him as he explained so many details of the war very well as we went from place to place. There was also sufficient time for exploring a sight after he explained things to us. The tour was definitely worth the price. I recommend this tour.

Excellent tour - I booked this tour with crowded house based on the positive reviews they were getting. There were four of us in our group. We we picked up from our hotel in Istanbul and driven to the start of the tour. The minibus was comfortable, and comfort breaks were provided. Lunch was provided at a local restaurant. Burak was our guide, very knowledgeable, and a great personality. The tour took us to the main places of interest. For one of our group, the tour brought to life the final journey of his great grandfather, fatally wounded at Lone Pine. The journey back was equally comfortable with a comfort break mid way. Good value for money, excellent service throughout, highly recommended.

Competent and Satisfying Tour - Our tour guide was named Charlie. He met us at our hotel and walked with us to the ferry. We were driven around in a large van across the Gallipoli peninsula with many stops. Charlie is a very good storyteller and made the basics of the campaign and the major motivations of each side very clear. I think this 6 hour tour is a good amount of time to understand and visualize the area and war. Very satisfied with the tour overall. Thank you.

Canakkale Gallipoli day tour - Great tour! Our guide Charlie was full of knowledge, and captured our attention perfectly. We visited many places in one day, at the expense of not spending a large amount of time at any one particular place. Which allowed us to gain a wide perspective on the battles and history that took place here, from both sides who fought. We feel that we learned a lot, and had a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!!!

Kiwis far from home - We had no direct connection to anyone who fought at Gallipoli - and were hesitant about going. However, it was a tremendous experience- truly moving! Especially to see how much time and respect the Turkish people have given to our Anzac peoples. It was a great honour to do this tour and our guide Charlie was an absolute rock star - so well read on the entire subject and so generously gave us the reality of what occurred here. Please universe- never let us go to war again. Loved this part of our journey.

Amazing experience with Burak - Wonderful tour and very well organized. We were picked up from our hotel in Instanbul on time and then dropped off at an Avis car dealership post tour to continue our travels through Turkey. Burak, our guide was entertaining, amusing and most of all knowledgeable . I have a keen interest in world war and have read many books on Gallipoli but I learnt a great deal from Burak. The tour ran for approximately three hours. Well worth it.

Great Gallipoli Tour - We had Charlie (Cagri) as a guided private Gallipoli tour in the morning ending with lunch. From pick up to lunch was awesome. Charlie had images of the various spots from 1914-1915 and took us to spots where the images were taken. He had great knowledge of the events and memorials. Highly recommend the tour. It was also very good to hear information from the Turkish side.

Excellent Tours and Tour Guide for Gallipoli - We booked 2 back to back Tours of Gallipoli starting from Canakkale. The morning tour was of Helles which started early, the afternoon tour was of the Anzac areas. With a brief stop for lunch in the middle. Both Tours were brilliant. We had the same guide for both, I can't now recall his Turkish name which I am embarrassed about but he said we should call him Charlie as it sounded like that in English. 'Charlie' was excellent. Obviously highly knowledgeable and a genuine historian. We learnt so much and thoroughly enjoyed his company. As we were the only 2 guests on the morning tour we were able to add in additional stops of interest. There is so much to see in Gallipoli that you could easily spend a week there. I understand that Crowded House also offer walking tours on the peninsula. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again and to recommend them.
