Your immersion into the darkness starts as you first look up with your naked eyes. You will then get to see deeper into space thanks to our binoculars and telescope.
Follow our Guide as he takes you on a journey of discoveries. Ask him any questions you might have about our night sky!
No prior astronomy knowledge is required.
On a clear night, it is essentially impossible to run out of objects to look for in the night sky, making stargazing an infinite source of inspiration and amazement.

Our stargazing location is a short 5-minute drive from Akaroa township. Luca will greet you at the carpark 10 minutes before the tour departure.

Incredibly special experience ⭐️ - Such an incredible experience!! Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate. We learnt a lot and had amazing views! The hot chocolate, blankets and photo were rally special extra touches. Highlight of our trip!

Leaving in awe of space and feeling super educated - Amazing night sky, very knowledgeable and friendly guide, great value for money, and leaving in awe of space and astronomy. I went with my girlfriend on a beautiful night where we saw Jupiter, shooting stars, Etu Carinae and some other star nurseries. It was full of amazing facts and we really enjoyed ourselves. He educated us on light pollution the effects it can have on the environment. We had blankets for when we got cold and seats to lie back on to look up at the stars. We even had a complimentary hot drink which was a nice touch even on a nice warmish night. I think this is a must do activity if you are in Akaroa overnight.

Magical stargazing experience in Akaroa! - Incredible experience! Luca is an amazing guide, and the tour is super well organised. We all had plenty of time on the telescopes and learned so much about the sky and the stars. There were blankets and hot tea to stay warm. The location requires little walking and is on safe grounds so accessible to all ages. A truly magical experience!!

Highly recommend such an awesome experience and education! - We saw the sign for Akaroa Stargazing in the afternoon as we were walking through the town and called Luca when we got to our hotel to see if there were any avails for that night and luckily for us there was. We didn’t have anything planned for the evening and as Akaroa is such a small town things close early so we thought this was a great activity for our night. Luca’s knowledge and passion for the night sky was inspiring and we learned so much from him. He covered quite a few things in the night sky from Jupiter to the Milky Way and the time just flew by. We highly recommend this tour and Luca! Such an awesome experience- Thank you!!

Amazing views and fun conversations. - Absolutely worth it, even if you're not into astronomy. Luca was passionate about not only the stars above but the conservation of Light Out areas and how to stop light pollution. His lesson was friendly, never felt like he was trying to teach or lecture but more like a conversation with a passionate friend. He also pays close attention to the conditions and asked if I would like to join an earlier tour because the conditions were perfect, and they were. 10 out of 10 would gladly do this again. It was worth the lack of sleep and the 90 minute drive.

One of the best things we’ve done in NZ - Brilliant experience - one of the best things we’ve done in NZ. Luca was entertaining and knowledgeable and the time flew by. A great way to finish our day in Akaroa. Great view of the night sky from Akaroa, so glad we did this rather than go all the way to Tekapo. Highly recommend to all.

Spellbinding - This tour was the best thing we have done in a long time. The location was perfect. Luca went above and beyond to make it an amazing experience. His depth of knowledge and passion was obvious and he has a great way of passing that on to his guests. It is inspiring to want to learn more- be a great way to get your kids interested in the fascinating world up there in the night sky.

Amazing night experience - Luca is amazing! The stargazing at Akaroa was incredible. The park is incredible and magical and the night was spectacular. We had a full moon but still we were able to discover a lot of things. Luca has more passion than all the stars together. Highly recommended.
