- 346-35 - Soju is a distilled rice wine drink that’s been present for centuries in Korean history. Its grainy complex and savory taste have been replaced by the commercial mass-produced green bottle that everyone is familiar with, not to mention all the available fruity flavors.
This experience will fix this taboo or stigma about Soju and give you the right and true experience of tasting this unique drink.
We’ll begin our experience by tasting different types of traditional Soju with a blind-tasting exercise alongside some light snacks. After tasting, we will use some Soju and make a fun seasonal cocktail.
Experience tasting traditional Soju, comparing commercial and traditional varieties, making cocktails with traditional Soju, and sampling fresh Makgeolli from Baekusaeng brewery.

Awesome - Joe was excellent and very personable!

Soju and Makgeolli tasting - This was a fantastic experience. Joe gave us a complete history of Soju and Makgeolli. The tastings were diverse and there is something for everyone. A great couple of hours. Highly recommended

Fun, informative, and delicious. - This was so fun! Joe is a great host and very knowledgeable about his craft. His Makgeolli was delicious and we learned a lot about how it's made and the history of the drink. He also taught us a lot about soju and the many varieties it's available in. He did not hold back on the drinks and gave us more than we knew what to do with. He also provided a ton of snacks and food for us to munch on while he was sharing his expertise. 10/10 would do it again and recommend to anyone.

An Amazing Teacher & Great Learning Experience - My boyfriend and I attended Joe's class on Traditional Soju and Makgeolli Tasting and it was absolutely amazing! We were very impressed with his knowledge and loved his hospitality. We had great conversations and really enjoyed the flavors he introduced us to. We would highly recommend this class for anyone traveling to Seoul and are excited to try making makgeolli! The experience was so comfortable it felt like being at someone's house. I also didn't even know that I was such a fan of makgeolli until after this class. Thank you for everything, Joe! You are an amazing teacher. Wishing you all the best and hope to see you again in the future!

Fun vibes & great selection - Loved this class hosted by Joe - learned a ton, laughed and enjoyed some great soju and makgeolli. This was our last stop on our trip to Seoul and it was perfect. Thanks again, Joe!

Fun and informative! - Fun and informative! Joe is a gifted brewmaster, and an excellent teacher. We had such a great time, and Joe really knows his stuff! Would highly recommend the class. We were just 2 and it was great fun, but a bigger group would have a great time as well. It seems like you're lost at first but trust in the detailed directions provided by Joe.

Amazing, chill experience with traditional Korean alcohols - Absolutely amazing experience. Exceeded my expectations. It is so worth it to learn more about traditional Korean alcohol. It's not stuff you can try at regular restaurants and it's a very unique experience. Very much recommend.

If you love drinking new alcohols, just do it. - One of the best traditional Soju tasting experience you’ll find in Seoul! His Makgeolli is also superb!
Went there with my girlfriend and we had a blast comparing and guessing what went into making Soju that we drank!

Must try fun activity in Korea! - This class is fun way to learn about soju — which is not limited to green bottles you see in k-dramas, but many varieties to taste and experience. Joe’s venue is in a traditional market with lots of small food stalls to nibble from pre/post class. The pub is cozy, intimate and comfortable and Joe’s knowledge of Korean traditional alcohol and his friendly and bubbly character adds more fun to the class. Highly recommend his makgolis as well! Even better if you make your own at his class!
