About Wailua River Kayak and Hike

Explore the lush Wailua River Valley on this Hawaiian-style eco-adventure. Once the home of the Alii (royalty), the Wailua River Valley is studded with ancient Hawaiian sights and ruins, like heiau (temples) and places of refuge. Start your tour with an easy-going, 2-mile paddle upstream on this calm river. Then pull your kayak ashore and hike through streams and rainforest to a secluded 120-foot waterfall. Hear the roar of the falls, feel the cool mist against your face, dip in the stream, and enjoy the lush forest. Return to your kayak and paddle back downstream to end your tour. The small, Hawaiian family-owned kayak company’s tours are low-impact eco-adventures that help preserve Hawaii’s natural environment.

      Review

My sister and I did this trip and just had a wonderful time. It is an easy kayak followed by a nice hike through beautiful Hawaiian tropical vegetation. Our guide Bo was great. He was fun and laid back, but also very professional. We had a great group and it was amazing how Bo brought us all together on the trip. Though it is a tour for tourists, it felt like a personal adventure.
