Bashana Companies & Imigongo Art Center - From Kigali, mid-way: Stop-over by Imigongo Art Center and cafe for leg stretching, viewing Imigongo arts, using the washrooms. You may also opt to buy a cup of coffee or anything else there.

Akagera National Park - Reaching Akagera by 12h30, proceed with registration and Covid-19 formalities. Head to Akagera Game Lodge or Ruzizi Tented Lodge for lunch and check-in before diving through the park to Ihema lake, the largest lake in the park and the second largest in Rwanda. Enjoy the one-hour boat ride exploring the nature in the forest.

Leave Kigali by 08h30 for Akagera National Park. With our local & friendly tour guide, the transport is assured with a choice 4x4 car with WIFI onboard to keep you connected with your loved ones & the world (Some spots in the park do not have connectivity). Head to Akagera Game Lodge for lunch and check-in, drive through the park to Ihema lake, the largest lake in the park and the 2nd largest in Rwanda. Enjoy the one-hour boat ride exploring the nature in the forest, hippos & crocodiles in the lake.
On the 2nd day, spend the entire day game-driving, depart to Kigali late afternoon. Akagera has a diversity of wildlife: buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas & many others. After a long time being extinct, the black rhinos and lions have been restocked. Their sighting is always not guaranteed due to their small number & the hiding character of the black rhino. Enjoy the game drive viewing the natural habitat of different animals, birds, view different lakes and landscape.

Abundant wildlife in a beautiful park close to kigali - We went to akagera for two days prior to a conference and it really exceeded our expectations! In rainy season the park was beautiful and green, with stunning views of rolling hills and wonderful lakes. Over two days we saw pretty much everything other than lions, including a herd of elephants, a leopard, rhinos, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, hyena, zebra, Impala, baboons and warthogs as well as many bird species. Our guide Patrick was immensely friendly and professional and we couldn't recommend him highly enough.

Great Guide who truly loves his job! - Our guide Anaclet was very accomodating and knowledgeable. It is obvious he loves his job and his enthusiasm was infectious. We learned so much from him and enjoyed the time we spent with him.

Amazing experience - We actually took 2 tours with Countryside. The day tour of Kigali and the 2 day Akagera tour. Both were fantastic. Olivier and Jonathan took us around Kigali and to the Genocide Memorial. We learned so much about the city and the growth of Rwanda. The next day, we were on our way to Akagera. What a trip! JP was our guide and he was determined to show us all of the animals. The lodge is beautiful and the staff was amazing. Between the boat tour, the night game drive and the full day, we saw nearly every animal. I would recommend this company and trip to anyone wanting to visit Rwanda.

A Fantastic Experience - What a fantastic two days! Everything was organized perfectly by Countryside Tours. Our guide, Patrick, was knowledgeable, fun, and helpful. After checking into the beautiful lakeside lodge, we had lunch then a private guided boat tour on Ihema lake where we saw hippos, Buffalo, crocodile, orangutans, warthog, and many birds. Shortly after getting back to the lodge, we were off on a night game drive. It was incredible! We saw a mother leopard with her 2 babies, hyenas, orangutans warthog, bush babies and tree hyrax. The hotel was prepared for our late dinner. After a great sleep Patrick collected us for our day-long game drive in the north of the park with Park Guide Justine. We were out exploring the park for the whole day and saw all the Big 5, plus many more. We had a picnic stop with bagged lunch from the hotel. We left Akagera around 5pm for the 3-hour drive back to Kigali. I would be happy to recommend Countryside for your safari, and am excited to be joining them for the 2-day Nyungwe Canopy experience later this week.

Amazing 2-day safari in Akagera National Park - Very good service and very knowledgable guides. Previous and during our stay in Kigali tt was extremely easy to communicate with Olivier and his collegues. They booked the accomodations for us. We did 2-days game drive, night drive and boat game drive. Apart of 2-Day Akagera we also did the City Tour and Gorilla trekking with Countryside Tours. All was perfectly arranged, always on time, excellent guides, very knowledgable, easy communication, comfortable cars, always helpful and friendly. We had an amazing time in Rwanda thanks to Countryside Tours. We recommend them 100%
